When writing the song, one of the writer's worship mentors had just tragically taken his own life. In the wake of that devastating news, "Precious Jesus" came to life. The heart behind the song is that if Jesus can calm seas, He can bring peace to us. If He can conquer death, He can sustain us in whatever we're facing.
